ARTICLE 3 MANY EXICITING THINGS COMING UP!! A small tree like the one above, may be the only Christmas a homeless person will get this year. So many more individuals and families are homeless than ever before. Please help those in need. SECOND ANNIVERSARY OF BREAD OF LIFE AND HIDDEN TREASUREZ THRIFT STORE The local Cumulus Radio ad will begin on 30 Nov and end on 12 Dec when we stop to celebrate our 2nd year! We have four great sponsors; Dottie's Restaurant, Southeastern Honda, Squid Lips Restaurant and Skip Wren Insurance. We're very excited to be on radio and on Saturday,12 Dec, the Hit Kicker Radio van will be airing their program from our Hidden Treasurez Thrift Store from 10am to noon. Free hotdogs and Coca-Cola!! COME SHOP and have fun. PALM BAY PARADE On December 5th we will be entering a float representing the homeless in the Palm Bay, Florida Parade. The float will be advertising the "Day of Understanding" scheduled for 19 December and this web site, homelessinbrevard.org. The parade will start at 6pm. The main part of the route will be along the south side of Malabar Road ending at Eldron Blvd. The float is unique, COME WATCH! BIBLE ON PARADE On December 5th Barry & Linda Walro will be carring the Banner for the Bible book of Obadiah and Thomas Hewitt will be the play the part of Obadiah repeating Verse 15 "The day of the Lord is near for all nations. As you have done, it will be done to you; your deeds will return upon your own head." Our participation in the "Bible on Parade" will be representing our church, Christian Development Center and Bread of Life. The parade begins at noon at the Melbourne Auditorium and we will be dressed in Period Costume. Look for us! "DAY OF UNDERSTANDING" The parade will be advertising this site and the "Day of Understanding". The Day of Understanding will be put on by 5 churches in Palm Bay on December 19th, each church with 4 to 5 teens who want to see what it's like to be "homeless" for 24 hours. There will be plenty of supervision at a slight distance and transportation. Each group will come to Hidden Treasurez to find a set of clothes they want to wear for the next 24 hours. then with a few dollars each, they will have to buy the food needed for all of the 5 to eat for supper and breakfast the next morning. They will gather at Christian Development Center Church for the initial prayer and instructions, then meet back there for a "feast or famine" lunch and the movie, "The Pursuit of Happyness", with actor Will Smith. Then off to their tents for the night (did I mention, well supervised!).
![]() ARTICLE 2 Updates for 2009 Jan to Feb 11, 2009 Linda just completed a grant request to the City of Palm Bay, for $20,000 to cover 52 hours a week for zero-income folks that wish to work. It's not much for 3 to 4 people, but it's better than no money coming in if you are homeless. Feb 12 to April 2009 We got the grant! Even though it will only come in for $10,000, Oct 1, 2009, we're very happy to have qualified and received a grant! April to May 2009 We now have a larger board of directors who work out in the community at various professions. We made a corporate decision to change our name from "Daily Bread of Life" to "Bread of Life", and that is now completed at the Federal level. There is another mission that helps feed the homeless in our county that is called "Daily Bread" and we wanted to stop the confusion for our clients. Everyone in the program is continuing to grow in the Lord and they are still looking for jobs in this tough economy. We are reaching out to work with other non-profit, faith-based groups, including "Daily Bread" in order to be more useful to the community. June to July 2009 The summer has been a very slow one for our small Hidden Treasurez thrift store. We have been advertising in the "SPOTLIGHT" local magazine and thanks to Susan at "Trader Jakes" a full-page ad in her magazine. Aug 1 to 13 Aug 2009(so far)! We will be starting a radio ad campaign on the local Cumulus radio stations beginning next week and are asking other businesses to sponsor us. The HitKicker on 102.7 is where we will be featured, but there will be public service announcements on the other three, A One A Hits on 107.1, Pirate on 95.9 andTrue Oldies on 1560AM. We're excited about this opportunity. We will be writing for more grant money, but as we found out from the Palm Bay grant, it takes many months to get any of the money. Linda is continuing to attend various meetings with other similar groups and partnering with some, like the abused women's center to give clothing to the women and children when they have had to leave their home suddenly with only the clothes on their back. They in turn send us items to sell that the women bring and can't carry around anymore. We work with other agencies to know where to send potential clients for other help. There is a large Group called C.L.I.M.B.,which consists of small agencies like ours that are going to be working closer together to accomplish big things for the homeless in Brevard County. Look here for more information in October when we hope to unveil the program. Pray for all of us, this is a great undertaking for the Lord's work. Sep 2009 Linda has been asked to be the Administrator of the Brevard Life Centers for America and to assist in starting and running the C.L.I.M.B. program in Brevard County. Through much prayer, I will step down from being President of Bread of Life. Through much more prayer, one of the Bread of Life Board of Directors has felt led of the Lord to accept the seat of President. I'm delighted to introduce him to you, his name is Philip Lambrelli, and I believe the Lord Jesus is guiding him in every step. I will be moving to Orlando soon, but will remain in the background for support and assistance. Oct - Nov 21 2009 This has been a difficult month for one of our own, Danny. He had a heart attack and subsequent surgery. Praise the Lord, he is recovering quickly. Nov 22, 2009 C.L.I.M.B. (Choosing Life, Independence and Managed Behaviour) had their huge kick-off yesterday at Cocoa Village in the Riverfront Park and an evening of music and dinner at the Cocoa Civic Center next door. The day and evening long event was a huge success. Thanks to everyone. The C.L.I.M.B. program will help benefit Bread of Life in many ways. Looking forward to the future. Bread of Life and Hidden Treasurez were there to assist and enjoy the day, so much thanks to my husband Barry, and volunteers Barney Grimet, Robbie Holley and Danny Consillio for their tireless help.
![]() ARTICLE 1 Updates for 2007 - 2008 Aug 07 Daily Bread of Life, Inc comes to life. Sep 07 We are seeking support to meet our new goal of opening our first home by the 15th of Oct 07. We are also looking to open a Daily Bread of Life thrift store here in Palm Bay soon. Oct 07 We have to adjust a few target and goal dates. We will be looking for property in Oct. in order to get set up for a 1 Nov opening of our first home. Times are tough, even for the agencies like ours trying to help. In the words of a great American Naval Officer, "We have just begun to fight". We are also looking for retail property for our thrift store. As we all know a thrift store fills a multiple of needs. It offsets our operational cost, provides good stuff to less fortunate people and it becomes a vehicle of employment to some of our clients. Nov 07 We have have opened our thrift store located at Country Club Plaza on the 15th. Praise the Lord!! We had to again push back the opening of our first Transitional home but we are about to sign a lease on a nice big 3 bedroom next week for a 15 December move in. We have two women clients with 2 children each, who will be moving in and our quest to end homelessness will be off the ground. Our goal is still to open one home a month. God has truly been blessing this ministry. We give him all the glory and praise. Please look for pictures of our new facilities and staff as we grow. Dec 07 We are excited to announce that our first Transitional Home is up and running. We have three single women, two with children (a 11 week old baby girl, 5 year old boy and a 15 year old young lady). All six are doing fine and are adjusting to their new accommodations. I give the Lord thanks that he has blessed and enabled us to help. We are calling the House "The Bonnie House" in honor of our first client (friend). Our thrift store is doing fine. I want to thank the community of Southern Brevard County for their support with our store. They say we have the best deals of any thrift store around. We are still in need of additional support. The store is our only source of funding for our program. We need your help!! We receive calls almost daily from people who need and want help. There are so many empty houses ready for us to rent and many people needing shelter from the storm of their lives. We are limited and need help. Please, if you are reading this, would you consider becoming a partner? Help us save lives, young and old. God Bless you and Merry Christmas. Roger Benoit Feb 2008 Boy is time flying by, its already February. The Bonnie House is doing very well. All of the children are in school and two of the three woman have obtained employment. I just want to thank all who have been praying and supporting us to get our first house up and running. Now we are looking forward to our next task; the need to open a home for Men. We have three men that are ready to go into our program as soon as we secure a home. I know, through everyones continued prayers and faith, God will make a way just as he did with our first home. Thank you for your continued support. God Bless Our womans home is doing fine. One of our girls has taken a super job down south and will be leaving the program. She is excited and so thankful to the Lord for blessing her. So we have an opening and will be looking to help someone else. As for our vision, we are looking for at least 6 acres to build 20 duplex's and a community center/chapel/offices in the center of the complex. This complex or village as we are calling it will be the center for our Transitional Home program. With 20 duplex's we will be able to help 40 people get back on their feet. We are working on a drawing that we will post on this website and our Myspace site (myspace.com/dailybreadoflifeinc) soon. So if anyone needs a tax write off and wants to donate some land here in South Brevard county, please give us a call, we will pick up your donations. May 2008 Praise the Lord! We were able to open a men's transitional home the first of May. Three to four men can stay in this large house that is sponsored by The Coalition for the Hungry and Homeless in Cocoa. Because of the Coalition, the rent is only $266 a month. Of course, there are still the utilities, gas for transportation, food, etc. that we provide. The house is within walking distance of the our store and jobs and food shopping. We closed the women's house when the last woman moved out. It was too far away in the very south of Palm Bay, no bus service was a big problem. We also opened Linda's home in Palm Bay for one to two-week emergency stays. Roger has a young family of 3, husband, wife and 2 year-old daughter, staying his family until they can both get jobs. Granted, our funding has not been enough to open 1 transitional house a month as hoped, but we do have places for some of the people who come to us. May - Aug 8, 2008 We are currently pulling together a great concert for Brevard County and all of the surrounding counties, called: "FEED MY SHEEP" Summer Jam 2008. The purpose of the concert is to raise money for the "Jordan Crossings" transitional home village for the homeless. We will have 4 Christian bands: "Decemberadio"; "By The Tree"; "Addison Road" and "Stillwater". We will also feature our Special Guest,Tricia Bennett, international author and inspirational speaker on homelessness. "Reality Tour" an inspirational dance & drama team of about 40 teens, will also perform a special drama written specifically for this concert. Both Tricia Bennett and Reality Tour are from Wildwood, Florida. Hope to see you there. Aug 9, 2008 Today is the concert, at 5p.m. until 10p.m. at the Space Coast Stadium in Viera, Florida. Between Melbourne and Rockledge, off I-95. Aug 10, 2008 Thank you for coming to the wonderful concert! If you missed it, you missed a wonderful concert and blessing, it didn't rain, thank the Lord! At 8:30p.m., a huge black cloud with lightning, covered our southern vision probably a mile or less behind the field, then as everyone scrambled to the covered area and started praying, the lightning cloud stopped and turned back toward the south, all over by 9p.m.! It left us with no rain or lightning in the entire stadium area. What a blessing and miracle. Aug 11 to Nov 2008 Because there were only 250 tickets sold, we have been attempting to pay off all the bills from the concert. We desperately need your help. Roger took a job in Oregon in October to help pay for some of the concert bills. Linda has been in charge and will be needing volunteers. Nov to Dec 2008 Thank the Lord for all the volunteers we have running the store. What a blessing it was the day a family of 3 adults, who live in a tent nearby, came in to volunteer because we gave them some warm clothing! They are still living in a tent, but Daily Bread of Life, Inc. helps them as much as possible, including getting them a warm place to sleep during our coldest nights. We don't have housing for them, but they are on the right path and get a step closer every day to getting jobs and a brighter future. The head of the family has passed his college entrance exam and is ready to start college.
